29 November, 2023. Valladolid. Crue Spanish Universities, through its Sectorial Commission for Digitalisation, has recognised the European University Association with the 2023 Institutional Trajectory Award for its “clear effort to highlight the importance of Digital Transformation in universities, through the creation of the steering committee and the advisory group, in which Crue has been involved, as well as the organisation of related workshops”. The award was received by Thomas Jorgensen, Director of Policy Coordination and Foresight, in representation of EUA during the Conference of Crue’s Digitalisation commission organized on the 29th November at the Universidad de Valladolid.
Since the beginning of 2022, the EUA has worked towards strengthening its activities in the area of digitalization of higher education. The association has taken on a holistic approach to the digital transition of universities based on the idea that it involves cultural and institutional changes that will enhance university activities and missions with the use of digital technologies. To this end, EUA has developed a digital transition work programme that is supported by the expertise of a Steering Committee and an Advisory Board.
Crue has collaborated closely with EUA in this line of work with its participation in the EUA Council and the Forum of Secretaries General. This association is represented by Pedro Ruiz, Executive Secretary of the Sectorial Commission for Digitalisation and Vicerector for Strategy and Digital University of the Universidad de Murcia, in EUA’s Advisory Board on Digital Transformation. Furthermore, Lluís Alfons Ariño, representative for international issues of Crue’s Digitalisation commission, is part of EUA’s Digital Transformation Steering Committee. This work is fundamental to align EUA’s initiatives with the activities of Crue’s sectorial commission and the development of joint lines of work.
Crue shares EUA’s institutional commitment with the Digital Transformation of Higher Education and will continue collaborating closely in this priority line of work.
