Madrid, February 17. Crue Universidades Españolas has participated in a testimonial video of the European Association of Universities (EUA) on the usefulness of the Autonomy Scorecard of this organisation, which collects, monitors and compares data on autonomy of European university systems. The EUA is preparing the fourth edition of the Autonomy Scorecard, with information from 35 European Higher Education systems. This report has been produced since 2010 and the last edition was published in 2017.
Crue’s Secretary General, María Teresa Lozano, underlines in the video that this EUA tool ‘has been and will be very useful for Crue’ not only to learn about the situation of university autonomy in Spain and the performance of other European countries in this area, but also to support arguments on the need to increase it in negotiations with the central and regional governments, especially with regard to staffing and funding.
Crue’s Secretary General affirms that the results of the EUA Autonomy Scorecard are also valuable for raising awareness on the need to strengthen the autonomy of public universities. The aim, according to Lozano, is that these Higher Education institutions can develop a more strategic and long-term vision.
María Teresa Lozano participates in this video together with representatives of the National Rectors’ Conferences of Ireland, Latvia, the Netherlands, and Sweden. All of them underline the impact of this study on the performance of European university systems in terms of autonomy.
