Madrid, 21 November 2023. Six Spanish university students have been selected by Crue Spanish Universities to participate in the second edition of the ConSIMium project of the Council of the European Union, to be held in April 2024 in Brussels. This initiative consists of a simulation exercise in which 27 teams from the Member States of the European Union experience first-hand how their leaders negotiate and the decision-making process in Europe.
It is a crash course in how European policies and new rules are made. In fact, the Commission and the Council Presidency intervene in accordance with their institutional roles, presiding over the simulation as it happens in real life. Until April, the selected students will receive specific online training on how the European institutions work and learn the different roles they will have to play in the final event.
A total of 20 universities took part in the second edition of this project, each of which selected two students. Of these, Crue has selected six: Marc Passola, from the Universitat Ramon Llull; Martina Villate, from the Universidad del País Vasco (UPV-EHU); Ainhoa Yong Fernández, from the Universidad de Granada; Inés Moreno, from the Universidad Europea Miguel de Cervantes; Eva Martínez, from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, and Nerea Sánchez, from the Universidad de Murcia.
The Spanish team is again coordinated by Rosa María de la Fuente Fernández, member of Crue’s Sectorial Commission for Student Affairs and Vice-Rector for Students at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, who, in addition to providing students with the necessary guidance for their preparation, will accompany them to Brussels in April.
