Cluj-Napoca (Romania), January 19, 2022. On 19 and 20 January, the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, hosted the workshop ‘Sustainability in doctoral education: developing a strategic approach’, organised by the Council for Doctoral Education of the European University Association (EUA-CDE) and attended by a hundred representatives of European universities.
The event was attended by the member of the Standing Committee and rector of the University of Lleida, Jaume Puy, and the President of the Crue’s Commission for the 2030 Agenda, Santiago García Granda, who participated with two presentations: the first during the first plenary session on institutional practices for a sustainable and green doctoral education, and the second within a session dedicated to the greening of doctoral schools.
The workshop took place in a format that combined plenary sessions with more interactive discussion formats. During the previous session on co-supervision and doctoral studentships, a report of the working group on this topic was presented, in which the conclusions and future strategies for cooperation, mobility and expanding expertise were presented. Furthermore, the President of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics and President of the UNESCO International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development 2022, Michel Spiro, presented the role of doctoral education in applied basic sciences.
